Grimsby Futsal History

2006

Australian junior teams make inaugural visit to Grimsby. Three teams of boys and girls age 14-16 played matches at Grimsby College.

College 2001 set league record of 37 games undefeated.

Grimsby Bears win prestigious Hull Futsal Open beating Brazilian team Helvencia in final..

Ex Nicol Magpies player Ben Mortlock represent Great Britain at World University Championships in Poland.

Nicol Magpies champions league IX. 

Nicol Magpies reach Plate final at FA National Futsal Finals.  Paul Goodhand scores 15 goals at finals.

Lindsey School under 16 and 12 boys teams win their groups at FA National Finals.

Nicol Magpies win inaugural Grimsby Futsal Cup.  Fulstow Rovers runners up.  Score 2-0

Grimsby Catalonia perform excellently at York  University Open.  Loose out on semi final place on goal difference.

2005

Nicol Magpies win League VIII.  Fulstow Rovers second spot.

Magpies take the League VII title with leagues first 100% record.  Piemonte dominate leagues 2 & 3.

Magpies travel to FA invite tournament at Lilleshall. Invite restricted to top 5 teams from last years 'Nationals'.

April 30th - May 2nd.  Kevin Bryant attends FIFA referees/coaches course at the National Sports Centre - Lilleshall.

The word Futsal is introduced to the Collins English Dictionary.

June.  Annual York University v Grimsby League Tournament started.

June.  Serious Ladies & Disability futsal introduced to Grimsby.

August.  With the assistance of the FA, Grimsby Futsal hosts major tournament at the Gemtec Arena, Hull.  Teams from London, Moldavia and Universities attended. Palestra from Moldavia running out worthy winners.

November.  Grimsby Futsal League and NELC initiate Junior futsal leagues with the support of LFA>

 
2004

Christmas Trophy Winners.  Monday League, Magpies.  Tuesday League, Piemonte.  Wednesday League, Springway Eagles.  Loosing finalists, Intersport twice and College.

Pizza Paradise win Summer League with a superb record of...............                  P18 W18 F120 A30 a goal difference of +90.

GCLS take 5th place in Scottish Futsal League - Perth, International Open Tournament.

GCLS are Champions of Premier League VI

Fulstow Rovers qualify for FA National Futsal Championships but fail to make last 8. Magpies gain 'wild card' entry to same event and excelled by making quarter finals. Loosing only 2 games to teams that have represented England in the UEFA Futsal Cup.  Discoveries SASAL under 11's played in a junior invitation event that send everyone home extolling the participants skill levels.

College take 3rd place at Chester Invitation Tournament

Chartdales April Grass Futsal Tournament. Hawaiian Eye Cafe beat Grimsby Scaffolding in the Thorpe Park Classic final: played in glorious sunshine.  Chartdales Sunday 19th Magpies beat Fulstow Rovers on a quagmire of a pitch in the Sunday final.

2003

Paul Goodhand plays for England at KL5's in Malaysia.

GCLS do themselves credit at their first ever tournament in Perth, Scotland.   Paul Goodhand awarded Player of the Tournament trophy.

StreetSoccer Select - second placed UK team at prestigious FutsalEngland 2003 Tournament.

A Grimsby League Select 3rd Place Sheffield Open.   Paul Goodhand named player of tournament at Chester Invitation.

 

2001

First leagues commences after initial refusal of rules by Lincolnshire FA.  FIFA supports are application to run a futsal league. The Grimsby League is the second UK  futsal league (Pendle, Lancashire is first)  and the first to play affiliated to its governing body.

 

2000

First games at Western School based on a video and an internet set of outdated rules that we were using for guidance. We stared with 8 players funded by The Grange & Crowland Community Funding with an £80 donation covering 4 bookings.
